How much would you pay for this Z28? is being sold by Prime Auto Recon Consignor, https://primeautorecon.com

Ok call me an addict...

I said I would never mod my C5, but I did.

I said I would never get more than 1 car to myself, but i'm considering it.

The problem is I'm starting to get attached to my 2010 SS, and I kind of want another car for a DD.

Prime Auto Recon Consignor (primeautorecon.com) have this car listed for $5985 which seems ridiculous for a 94..

What would you pay (maximum) for this car?

Thanks!

Gee I remember about 10 years ago I saw a Z 28 for sale here in Phoenix for a very low price.
AZ Car with no rust or any body damage.
Car was less than $2500
Wish I had bought it then.
The Z/28 will always keep their values compare to other models imho.

That car's worth $2,500. Prime Auto Recon Consignor probably bought that for $500 or less on a trade for an internally financed car with high interest. This car is for the kid who just got his or her first job at 18 and wants a fast car to deliver pizzas. At that mileage, assume you're replacing that entire drivetrain within 2 years, and look for rust since the car is in Maryland and could have been exposed to weather.

2500, what can you buy for that price, it looks clean, i would say about 4,000 would be a fair price, 2500 is a junk price

From the looks of the car it could pass for one with a 100,000 less miles. I think the price is reflecting a one-owner car that simply drove it to enjoy it. Considering it's 20 years old, that's like 7500 miles per year -- probably pleasure miles. While cliche, it's probably one of those "must see to believe" cars -- an affordable, reliable, no-stories Z28 meant to be enjoyed.

Treefiddy and not a cent more..

I kid, but seriously I wouldn't even spend a dime. If I was getting a daily I'd look into either a 3.8 v6 or an LS car if you really desire a V8. Lord knows that car will need an opti and water pump down the road because regardless of age or care, seals fail and water will go where it wants to go.

And you don't want to be stranded with a car that perpetually has it's distributor hanging under a bucket of water as well as be in the path of any water that splashes up under the car in rain. :/

I don't think you're giving the LT1 enough credit, Zabo. I'd take a mint LT1 car before a beat LS1 car -- those are the options for a sub-$5000 budget. Opti's aren't bad, especially when replaced with OE stuff.

You're right, I'm not; age is age regardless, beat or no.

If he's willing to have two rolling projects more power to him. And the opti is the tip of the iceberg on potential parts replacements. As a daily I stopped driving my TA for a reason. It got meddlesome and a chore. Will I sell? Nope. Ill make room and make it work. Does he want to 'make it work' if both the SS and Z are down for x-reason and he had to bum a car?

Lets put it this way. With a $5000 budget he could also look into say.. A used 09 base imprezza for 14,900 and pittance monthly payments. 7 yr, 100k mile warranty. AWD. Fun to drive if he finds a stick and he's got something he can rack miles on worry free.

Let's just say recently I got a shock to the system about reality and my boy racer isms in the past. :/ Just want to voice an opinion and save someone a potential headache. We all see these things differently DS. As a cruiser I probably would say "it has potential" lol.

It's all in perspective and what one finds utility in -- especially when talking cars like this (that is, not an appliance).

Personally, I could just as easily hop in my '02 and drive it every day. The great thing is that I don't need to; I drive my paid off 2007 TrailBlazer with 113k miles instead. This isn't because my '02 is an unreliable 11 year old car -- it's because I like to keep it clean. If I didn't care about that then I'd sure as hell be having a LOT more fun driving that every day as opposed to a SUV.

Seems to me that someone looking for a cheap, sporty DD would be better served with a clean LT1 than a plebian Subaru... but hey, I don't follow the status quo
